Physical activity, safety and suitability

Physical challenge must be safe, proportionate and educationally justified.

Interest in boxing is not enough on its own. We consider the learner’s needs, medical information, communication, regulation, risk and the purpose of the placement before deciding whether FIREBOX is appropriate.

01Relevant SEND, medical, safeguarding and risk information reviewed before a placement starts
02Physical activity adapted to the learner's starting point, need and agreed risk controls
03Education, attendance, safeguarding and progress remain part of the same placement plan
04Activity and venue documentation available to commissioners through due diligence
05Clear escalation routes if health, behaviour, safeguarding or suitability concerns change
06Regular review so the programme remains appropriate and continues to meet its agreed purpose

Specific coaching activity, medical considerations and physical participation are agreed through placement planning and risk assessment. Commissioners can request relevant evidence during due diligence.

SEND & attendance
Support for young people whose additional needs and attendance difficulties are closely connected.

Many of the young people we support have SEND alongside EBSA, persistent absence or severe absence. We consider both: what is making education difficult to access, and what will help the young person take part and keep taking part.
